Shelley (pictured above) is our 43 year-old red eared slider and she has been in our office since the office was first purchased by Dr. Richard Rosenberg in 1979.

Dr. Makayla Harr

Biography: Dr. Harr was born and raised in Bristol, TN and now resides in Piney Flats, TN with her husband, Evan, and two dogs, Oscar & Arlo.

Education: Dr. Harr graduated Valedictorian from Tennessee High School in 2017. She then graduated Cum Laude from East Tennessee State University in 2020 with a major in Biology and minor in Business. She graduated from The Kentucky College of Optometry at the University of Pikeville in 2024.

Work: Between the years 2015-2020, Dr. Harr worked as a part time technician at Mills Optometric Associates in Elizabethton, TN. During optometry school she completed clinical externships at these locations: Kentucky College of Optometry (Pikeville, KY), Simpson Optical (Lexington, KY), Abell Eyes Refractive Solutions (Lexington, KY). She worked part-time at Truelight Eye Care for one year and is currently part-time at Dr. Carlson & Associates & Sunset Eye Care.

Dr. Angela Patteson OD

Dr. Angela Patteson was born in Kingsport, Tennessee. In 1996, she graduated from Milligan College, and in 2001, she graduated with honors from Southern College of Optometry. In January of 2014, she was fortunate to purchase the established practice of Dr. Richard Rosenberg. She has been married to her husband,Gant, for 25 years. Gant is also from this area. He graduated from Science Hill High School in 1993 and they met at Milligan College in 1994. They have two children and love spending time with them. Dr. Patteson has worked in different clinical settings and is very comfortable providing care to patients of any age. She will take her time during the refraction to make certain the eyeglass prescription is correct. Likewise, she will listen to any additional concerns or questions you may have. If you have questions about dry eyes, laser vision correction, or any other eye-related matter, simply ask her; she loves to talk about eyes!
